Default Need help - fluid leak

2006 530i

I have some fluid leak/spray around the oil filter and air filter area. It's sprayed on the top of my air filter housing. I can't tell if it's oil or coolant. I had to top off 1 quart of oil last week (due to low oil level), then cap off my low coolant (message this morning).

Only thing I can see is possibly a hose that appears somewhat wet, cracked. Is this hose DIY? Also notice a pool of oil but don't know if it is related. Belts and alternator appear to be clean of leaking fluid/spray; however, the bottom floorpan is dirty.

Thanks,

Oil filter housing gasket is a pretty common failure point on the 6 cylinder engine.

Probably using aftermarket oil filter.
Two times that I do not used OEM oil filter got exactly what you're having.
After market oil filter o-ring is thin and last less.

I've used an OEM oil filter. I can't recall if the o-ring was new or if it came with the OEM filter.

Oil filter cap leak is different from oil filter housing gasket leak. It should be easy to figure out which one is leaking just by looking at the oil filter cap and look for the source of the leak.
