hello everybody! ive been doing search but i couldnt find any answer, or maybe i was doing it wrong. but anyway, i hope somebody can help me. here it goes; i was having fun and doing 100mph with my radio turned a little bit up. but there was a sound i heard and i knew that its not from the music, so i turned down the volume and there it is. it sounds to me like how your pdc beeps but this one is like 50% of that sound, not to loud. but when i slowed down to 80mph, it disappears. i checked it again, did 100mph, there it is. i was thinking like maybe the wind against the car was making the pdc sensor do something. but it shouldnt make any sound since the sensor was off. hope somebody out there got the answer for me. thanks guys.

also, i still got the new car warranty till OCT. can i go to the dealer and complain this? coz i dont know how well they will take it if i told them is was going 100mph when this thing happens. coz i figured all they will me is to slow down so it wont happen anymore.

i think there was a reason why they called it the ultimate driving machine, its meant to be driven hard!

It sounds like you have the maximum speed limit warning enable. It is located in the idrie menu. Check you owners manual.

It is the speed warning you can set up in your idrive?

Speed limit
You can enter a speed and a Check Control
message indicates when you have reached this
speed. This enables you, for example, to
receive warnings if you exceed a speed limit in
an urban area.
You are only warned of reaching this speed a
second time if your vehicle speed falls below it
again by at least 3 mph/5 km/h.

thats not it. i set it up before around 80mph just to test it. i turned it off already. any other suggestion?

musashi530i Mar 30, 2010 10:13 AM

well its not exactly 100mph, sometimes at 90, someetimes at 95, but the one thing that is constant is when i fell like im against some heavey head wind.

wind noise. Seriously I had a small performance hatch once that anything over 80mph and the wind would make this whistle over the side mirror. fold the mirrors in, and it would go away, fold them out and sure enough would whistle every time.

but the sound seems like its coming from the speakers, kinda like the way the pdc beeps but not as loud.

and plus driving honda for a long long long llloooonnnnggggg time, i should know how a wind noise sounds like. no offense to you xcntrk, just saying. :)

ok...I may know what your problem is. I had that exact same issue on my ?95 525i, and I currently have it on my '08 535i. I don't know positively what the problem is on the 535i, but I found and fixed the problem on my 525i.

There is an trim piece that goes all the way around the exterior of the windshield. At the top left corner (above driver?s head), that trim piece will ?flap? from the wind at high speeds?for me it was anything greater than about 95 mph. This flapping causes what sounds like an interior buzzing noise. On the 525i, I simply re-glued the trim piece down?problem fixed. On the 535i, I told the dealer about the problem. The dealer tells me that they were not able to ?duplicate? the problem, because they are not able to go and test drive at 100+ mph. On that same visit, I also had my sunrood seal replaced. Delare tells me that ?maybe the new seal will change the airflow and solve the buzzing problem. To be honest, I haven?t gone 100+ mph since the visit to see if it did. So, see if the that trim piece is a little loose or worn?this may be your problem. I hope this helps.
