Default Need help!

My 05 545i is acting up big time! The car start and the rpm goes up and down. At one point it drives than completely shut down, not quite sure what it is... from reading through online and forums. I'm guessing these factors: Throttle body sensor, cam and/or Crank sensor? Please help took it to a local mechanic and they have no clue.

Get a BMWhat app with a wifi dongle . Get some codes to give you a direction to point to . It's really hard to guess and give you a significant answer . Due to so many things that it could be . Like a MAF ,Disa Valve, CCV valve, a vacume leak , secondary air hose under the manifold . All those will give you a rough idle . But since you said the car shut off , my guess would be the MAF .

From personal experience, a bad ignition coil can also do that.

That's what I though as well...after cleaning out the throttle body it runs a little better. The RPM doesnt jump up and down as much...Is there a test that i can do?

There are codes set. Guaranteed!

That is why HF suggested the BMWhat app and dongle. They may not show up in I Drive.
