Nearing the End
BimmerFile is reporting that the E60 will not be manufactured after December, 2009.
This timing seems sort of ... early. The expectation is that the new 5 series (F10) will be introduced at the Geneva show in March, 2010, and will be in European show rooms shortly thereafter (with U.S. deliveries arriving some time later - like May or June, 2010). Given this, I had figured that the E60 would be produced at least through January and maybe into February.
Either way, as excited as I am to see the new 5 series, it is a bit sad to think that the end of the E60 model run is merely weeks away.
The E60 has been a great machine - groundbreaking in its looks and outstanding in its performance. It is certainly the best-selling 5-series ever for BMW, and may be one of the most successful models BMW has ever developed. Well done BMW.

My lease ends in May and I am planning to order one of the last E61's. The F11 will not be available before September-October next year but my sales rep said that the E61's will be built until next summer.
Ending production of the E60 already this fall seems a bit early.

It is a bit happy and sad at the same time!
Still I'm sure the F10 will make us all happy again!

I've been exploring/debating ordering a 2010 550i to replace my '07 550i which I turn in to BMW in early Feb.
Been keeping a close eye on this - had a dealer call me to tell me that Oct. 10th was the last date to put in an order for a custom car, with the builds finishing at the end of this year. Seems to mesh with the link to the article.
Thanks for the update!
Sigh......
