But the Navtech page says "Release 2005.2 is currently available, but can not be ordered from this site at this time" - where did you find this?

It's not written well, because it DOES say it can not be ordered from this site..."New updates are now available for your BMW DVD navigation system. Release 2005.2 is currently available, but can not be ordered from this site at this time. To order your new DVD update please call 1-888-NAV-MAPS (1-888-628-6277) or contact your local BMW dealer." So while you can not order from the site, you CAN order it by calling the number.

Hi All!

I've been on the road, so I just now have gotten back into this.

I just called the 800 number above, and it was as simple as could be. Total with Tax and shipping was $224. It's shipping 2nd day (by default), and will be here on Friday.

The lady was very friendly, and let me know that my wife's expedition (which I also asked about upgrading) has a new CD, but was nice enough to tell me that if I wait until June, a newer one will be available.

Great service! She even took my VIN to verify, but said it wasn't necessary. Very knowledgeable, which I can't say about my dealership!

I'll let everyone know how it works.

In DE, it doesn't have route 1, a 4 lane highway which was opened some years ago... embarrasing.

I loved watching the new bridge being built as I commuted every weekend between Cherry Hill and Virginia Beach, back in the mid/late '90s. Beautiful finished bridge and intriguing construction process. The new ?1? really improved my travel time, especially going South.

Me too, only $221 to Florida.

She started off by scaring me when she said 9 disks When I questioned why she asked "where do you live?" I said Florida and then she asked what was that model year again? When I said '05 then she realized her mistake. We then used the VIN and got me to the 1 DVD. And expected on Friday as well.

I suggest you guys start buying BMW parts mail order from Crevier BMW. They have a parts message board on Roadfly.com and their prices are about 30% off retail. Just say no to full retail!

I am sure 1 helped a lot. Its still very crowded around I 95.
They are starting to build anew bridge south of Rehoboth - looks interesting, too.

I'm all for discounts, but do we have a part number? The E65 part number (origianlly listed) apparently was E65-specific and was invalid for the 5/6 series.

I get a similar BMWCCA discount thru my dealership and would be happy to order one there ... if we had a part number. I'll ask at my dealership.

$199 from Navteq direct for the US and Canada Version.? If all you want is a regional map, you can order it for $129

What does "Regional Map" mean? Doesn't one disc cover the whole USA?

My Ride: Arrived 3 June 2005: 2005 545i - Orient Blue, Black interior, Sport, Steptronic, Cold Weather, NAV, Sirius, Logic7, Comfort Seats, Sunshades. What a glorious ride!

It would be interesting to know what format the mapping is in. If mapping were compatible with, say, Microsoft Streets & Trips software, then I could kill two birds with one stone from a data-availability standpoint.

However, I fear each mapping company uses a proprietary map system that will talk to none of the others.
