Navigation Screen bright red...then pitch black
2010 E60 after a CIC retro fit... Was working fine, watching a dvd parked, then screen went black and the radio kicked out.
Turned the car off, restarted screen went red, then black.
Unhooked the battery, reconnected then everything worked for a while... then red screen then black, and no more radio.
Swapped out CIC unit with a known good one, radio and buttons work, still blank/dead screen.
Replaced screen with known good unit, same result.
I'm at a loss if anyone has any other thoughts... Obvious things like (clock, seat belt chime do not function but things like TPM functions...) I was thinking MPM but it was relocated to the side trunk wall, and looks fine (aka dry).
Any help?

I went into the 'secret menu' 12V at stand still, 14.8-15.2V when car is running/driving around...
Good to know about the MPM... I'll throw it on a trickle charger for ha ha's

After an evening on the trickle charger no change battery reads 14.2v at rest and 14.7-14.9v when driving. Screen taunts me in it's darkness.

I remember when I retrofitted my CIC and "Forgot" to put the Screen connector (Red) onto the CID and started the screen went bright red too. Check your connections both at the CIC and the screen. maybe start with the screen out and move the connector a bit, could be a broken wire.

Just checked and used multimeter on cable have 0hms resistance (meaning not broken connection...) I can turn on the radio but pressing the mute button/volume (I have tried the reset no dice) makes me wonder if the cic thinks the car isn't "running"....

I had a similar issue where the screen was black and it turned out to be fuse 79 in the rear fuse panel. I have an E61 so not sure if yours would be the same but worth a shot.

Just to close the loop incase someone else has this issue... I had initially wired the emulator into a 'hot' positive lead into the CIC unit. This is not the proper way to do this. It needs to be wired into a 'hot' positive when the key is in the ignition. Since mine is a 2010 the wiring for the Emulator is slightly different than how the 'how to' guides show.
I wired mine into the DTC button, since it's only 'hot' when the key is in the ignition. All is well now.
