I've searched and found nothing similar. Noticed friday that the navigation is not moving and GPS is not tracking the car. It knows when the car is turned on but then does not change to reflect my location. I loaded a burned nav DVD about 2 weeks ago and had not issues. But now the system seems to be stuck. Is there a way to 'reboot' the system?

That's the e60 equivalent of the microsoft 3 finger salute

You could try starting up with no disc and then insert it after you get the notice that no disc in installed.

You may have tried this already, but try to just eject the nav dvd and put it back in - works on mine

Otherwise, you might just wanna burn a diff dvd - try another version or smth - sometimes its finicky like that...

I've ejected gone back to the old disc but the map still shows the same location and won't move. I'll play with it some more in the morning. So annoying!!!

That might be the equivalent of the blue screen of death from MS Windows.

Sorry to hear that Sean. Maybe you need a hard reset, try disconnect the battery, reconnect it and then reboot.

Yeah I may have to do that. It's just stuck showing me the parking lot for my office (that's depressing enough :-P ). I'll try the battery and see what that does. Does anyone know if the antenna for the GPS has any know issues? Just trying to rule out the hardware.

it's got to be more than the antenna- if your car can't get a signal, it uses a built-in gyroscope and your speed to approximate your travel until it can get info from the satellites again. this can leave you completely off course, but moving when the car does. if your map isn't moving at all, something is definitely wrong, and it's more than the antenna.

So that takes me back to software then since no changes were made to the hardware.

did you try the three finger salute described above? i think you have to press the power button as well as the two eject buttons.
