Very little data capacity remains on the Europe 2007-1 DVD.

Additional countries may be managed by their own versions of navigation discs in future.

Welcome to the Forum michel

It has a lot to do with your own countrie's map commerce.

Not all counties have digitized their georaphics for the US military system GPS,
a new European is on its way, but it will take some time (2010?).

For old Soviet satellites countries, the task has been slowered down
for old military reasons, remember the cold war and the Russians?

Didn't slow Finland down!

Seriously though, what about Czech and Slovakia? And I'm sure there's commercial mapping for Poland. So what's the problem with Hungary?

I think it's still a commercial AND EU thing. I bet we see Romania and Bulgaria mapped "soon" (depending more on the commercial side).

I thought they invaded Finland November 30, 1939 - March 13, 1940. with the Moscow Peace Treaty bringing things to a conditional halt.

Also:

Treaties signed in 1947 and 1948 with the Soviet Union included obligations and restraints on Finland, as well as territorial concessions. Both treaties have been abrogated by Finland since the 1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union, while leaving the borders untouched.

OK so maybe Finland was invited to "behave". Independently. With no post 1917 territory conceded?
We lost some areas after the WW2 to the Soviets, a mayor city and some wilderness areas east and north.

Behave we did, what you have done against the worlds largest county?
Poplation 4 mill against 200 mill, a boaderline more than a thousand miles!

But the independence made it possible for a small northern country to work as a democratic, western world one.

Keep reading your history!

The map data DOES exist, BMW simply has not bought it yet. (I think it's Navteq)

There is a Hungary map for VDO systems - I did try a VDO Hungary CD recently (BMW's satnav was designed by VDO) but my 530 refused to read it.

Finland ceded most of Finnish Karelia, Salla, and Petsamo, which amounted to 10% of its land area, 20% of industrial capacity and 400,000 evacuees.
But hey, Finland "dun good" and you do provide some outstanding motor sport drivers!! (Not to mention great design and telecomms technology).

And the world's best Saunas!!

:'(

Until the EU's own system (I think it's called the Galileo?) we have to use the US GPS.

Hungary, as a soul country to Finland, is most certainly digitialzed by the Americans,
but has the Navteg or any other company, commercialized it yet?
