Default Navigation error ?...

Gentlemen , I was curious to know if anyone else experiences this e60 “gremlin “ I just purchased a 2009 535i and notices mostly on very cold mornings that my Navi won’t recognize the CD that is in the DVD drive. It has happened 2 times now and I have heard this could be a sign of the drive failing . I also plan on bringing this to the dealers attention as I have 3 months left on my original BMW warranty any one seen a service bulletin on this ? if so can you pas along I love to bring the bulletins to the dealer with me to show the SA . Thanks in advance

If the car is still under warranty, I would bring it to the dealer. Or, you can get a can of compressed air and shoot some inside the CD\DVD slot. Hopefully it could knock some dirt off. I do this sometimes to older computer CD\DVD drives.

You are not alone with this issue, mine does the very same on cold mornings (at -3 deg ish). Removing the disc and giving it a polish / warm it up does the trick for me.
My theory (although unproven) is that you can get the faintest layer of condensation on the disc that upsets the readability by the head, rather than a sympton of the head starting to fail. If I put a warm disc in I don't get the problem.

That theory seems very plausible.
