I have ordered my car without the bmw navigation.
I work with tomtom3 and for me there is no better system, also because I' am using my IPAQ for other things. Are there more people who ordered the car without the navigation and are you affright of the rest value at a later moment?

[/quote]I wanted nav with mine but decided to buy a car off the lot without it since I already had a Garmin. Yeah it would have been nice to have it integrated but not a deal killer.
Redondoman - your logic of it costing $1800 list and deducting that entire amount when you sell is a little flawed. If we follow that same logic with the other options (heck why not with the base price as well!), you should probably just give your car away now!
I agree, the resale value of the car will not be as high without nav, but as with any other "newer" high priced options, there will be buyers who want it (and willing to pay more for it) and buyers who DON'T want it (because they will never use it and don't want to pay for it).
I would think after 3-4 yrs if the resale value of the car is 50-60%, that nav $1800 would follow that percentage as well.
For me, no biggie as far as resale. (Still wished I had gotten it because I travel quite a bit and I like the integration - Garmin Quest works great though.)

I got mine with Nav pro DVD, because since beginning of that technology (only black and white arrows) I loved GPS integrated.
No other cost/reselling value consideration involved in.
I like integrated GPS color map and related functions: full stop
Just my 2 cent thought

I also used tomtom3 in my E46, No doubt it's a great product, and in some ways
better in fuctionality than BMW nav.
But I also love the integration into the car and HUD....
To be honest, I would be looking for nav if I were to buy a car like yours,
if you think about the kind of market your car would be targeted to in Holland.
Would it affect resale value? possibly...but by how much - I don't know.
For now though, it's your car and you should enjoy it the way you want it...

When I purchased my own E60, I did not go with the NAV option for a few reasons:
1) I don't think Ireland is particularly well catered for with the mapping software and 2) the cost - at $3000 the likelihood if getting any reasonable chunk of that back is VERY slim at resale or trade-in. I think that might be changing in the UK but Ireland is very different.
I was interested to see that u use an iPaq. I borrowed an iPaq 5500 over the holidays because someone had installed a SysOnChip GPS Plus II card. Unfortunately, there is no software with it. I download test software from sysonchip but it doesn't seem to be particularly interested in finding any satellites for me.
However, I'd be particularly keen to find out what I'd need and how I would turn what I have in to a navigation system. Would I be right in thinking that BMW use Co-Pilot ? If u could let me know your own configuration I'd really appreciate it. If u feel it could get too messy over the forum, we could always use the PM or even email itself.
Cheers.

For me, NAV with HUD was a must since I do a lot of driving for business between States. THe intergrated system works well for me and I feel it was worth the money. Still it's a personal choice like all options. I was not concerned about resale - just wanted to build a car with the options I will use frequently.

I don't want to know where I'm going, it kind of takes away the fun of getting there.
