I think the 5 and 6 series use different format disks than the rest BMW's. So you may have to order it from the dealer.

On a side note, does anyone know if the Nav disks are duplicable. I know it's never discussed here, due to pirating issues. What if I wanted to make a copy for my own backup purposes?

I heard a rumor that the Nav will freeze up when it detects a copy dvd being used. Is this a myth?

Only certain disc duplicating programs seem to work....toast for apple macintosh OSX does work

.....thought I'd better keep a backup incase The dieselettes got a hold of the eject button and trashed my original disc.

DD

PS, You would 'toast' thr 530 but I'd return the favour when the mighty M5 cometh!

Yes it is.
It is also a myth that you need to order the DVD through BMW since you get it for YOUR VIN only.
Some dealers are so full of it...

So there is nothing wrong with the disc, you just ordered the wrong one? Shouldn't the topic have said, "I ordered wrong disc" and not that the disc didn't work?

If u did read other threads uno it was ordered and received from NavTeq direct

Phone, not web site. Do not accept it must be ordered from BMW - not true.

1-888-628-6277
Part Number BMW# 65-90-0-398-540 on NavTeq paperwork, on box and on disk.
$221 to Florida

U may use your Vin as well to get them to the disk above.

Running a duplicate in my car since original received from NavTeq so NO contrary to speculative rumor your Nav system will not lock up.

See my sig for vehicle specifics.

Copies do work, but i have noticed that the dvd player jerks a lot with copies.
Had tried several burners and dvd-r's and the only way to not hear the jerk sound is to use the original. You only notice what i'm talking about if you are very picky, like me
