My idrive navigator seems to have issues: it loses position precision
to the point where the car positioning will hop off the road I'm
driving on and onto a nearby road, changing the directions
drastically - especially if I'm on a highway and it hops to a small
country road nearby. Other people in my area have noticed similar
behaviour from other GPS navigation systems but reports are sporadic
at best. Given that I did not change anything in the nav myself, does
anyone have suggestions?

Thanks!

Does it happen ALL the time, or just occasionally? You might be in a poor reception spot such that the accuracy degrades sufficiently to have the computer question which road you're on. If it only happens in that one spot, or only rarely, I'd say it's normal vehicle function.

i gave up trying to use my nav a long time ago, i've never once been able to get it to navigate me anywhere....and the voice command for new destination, haha, forget it, i even had my coworker speak german to it, and it still didn't accept the input.

could be normal, don't think the system works very well.

My NAV has always worked perfectly. I have never had it do what you describe. I do have the latest program update and DVD. Suggest you get them to do a program update at minimum, if you are already updated, then something is wrong with nav system. The newest DVD would only ensure all the newer roads are available to you it would not cause the symptoms you are experiencing. You can get the latest DVD using torrents.

Good Luck,

Almost ALL the time.

I was supposing the antenna to replace...
I'm sure someone must have experienced it - I'll wait for more opinions.

In chicago we have roads which flank other roads and does the same thing. GPS is accurate to a degree if it has access to three satellites s to triangulate. there is some inaccuracy .
