When I set an address by location, upon return my car will be off by up to 100 feet. This is also true sometimes when I plug in address. The Nav System on my 04 545 was more accurate. Can my current Nav System be adjusted by the dealer?

I have the exact problem (and didn't on my 04 as well) and I have no solution for either of us.

What do you mean by "upon return"? Have you used the nav system much or just a few times? The system is supposed to sort of "self-calibrate" and become more accurate with use. You could try programming a few shorter routes around town to give the car a chance to adjust itself. If that doesn't work, you can try the reset procedure described in the following thread (I don't have any experience with that procedure...)

It worked perfectly on the E60 and our X5 from day 0 as we drove them brand new from the dealer. I have never heard of it having to "learn" ... GPS is triangulation from satellites, I don't see how any callibration or learning would be involved? Sounds to me more like a faulty GPS receive or software glitch.

I mean that after I set an address by location, not by house number, the next time that I drive to that location frequently it will be off. On my home location I have used both the house address and "use present location as address" without being able to consistently to get to the front of my. I can understand that Navteq can have the house location off slightly. However when I use the exact location feature of the address book I should be able to consistently end up within 50 feet of my house. I always land approximately 100 feet south of where I should be. This happens with other locations periodically. My current 08 Nav is not as accurate as my 2004 Nav System. I am wondering if the Nav System can be adjusted.

Some in-built sat nav systems also "learn" the tyre/wheel diameters via the anti-lock braking system pulses. Helps with dead reckoning, along with gyros, when GPS signal is lost/weak.

Rudy, I've heard this self-calibrate thing, but I've been a pretty extensive nav user in both of my E60s. I've used the current nav system since my May 07 ED with the same problems (with both Europe and US nav discs) -
Stopped at an intersection where I'm supposed to make a turn, and the nav system tells me I'm 50 or 100 feet away.
Driving along one road with another nearby parallel road and the nav system tells me I'm on the other road (until they diverge and nav figures it out).

Generally, it appears that my nav system is 50 - 100 feet off from where I actually am. I think that others who have complained of their nav systems being "late" or "slow" are experiencing the same thing (it takes 50 - 100 feet for nav to figure where you really are, or were).

My 04 E60 did not have this problem at all, and while I'm not claiming all 08's have the problem, I've read enough posts on the topic to know that I'm not crazy or alone.
