Don't know about other UK members but I'm getting petty p***ed off with the unending PC c**p we are getting shoveled on us..in all walks of life, where's it all going to end..GPS chips in da head

I remember the uproar in the Eastern United States when EzPass was proposed and introduced.

Odd...we didn't seem to have any uproar in Massachusetts over the system. I don't see any downside to EZ-Pass/Fast Lane, and a whole lot of benefits. As a former law enforcement officer, I asked about getting information identiyfing transponders in vehicles, and getting data about vehicle location, and was told that a court order would be necessary to get that data. Seems like it's safeguarded properly.

ExGMan - you being a ex cop i need your help on a speeding ticket. 88 on a 35 in nyc (WestSide HWY). what should be my excuse? Nothing written on ticket as to what he used to clock me. i was just enjoying the open road

Normally, I'd say to plead guilty, and pay your fine, etc. That much speed in MA would result in a "Driving to Endanger" felony charge, I think. I say I think because because I'm ex-FBI, not local or state police. I believe the ways that speeding tickets are challenged, with some success, is the calibration of the unit (radar, laser or vehicle) used to time the speeder. Frequently, radar units go for long periods without recalibration, and that's usually the first thing a defense attorney would seek...the calibration methods used, and how recently the unit was calibrated. I doubt an NYC patrol car actually caught up with you and stayed with you to get your speed, thus it's probably radar. Again, with that much over the limit, I think you'd better get an attorney fast.

The photo used in the feature was actually from the BMW magazine a few months ago where BMW are actually researching a way to display the speed limit from road signs on the HUD and the iDrive screen.

Wow is right!! I resisted getting EZpass for a while bc of Big brother paranoia. I don't doubt that at some point in NJ; if you get from one exit to the next too quickly you'll have a summons in your mailbox with the fine charged to your account. Another way for the politicians to get more $$ from us to spend on themselves.
