And yes it was the water crossover pipe under the intake...

Yep, that's the timing chain cover coolant weep hole. I thought the crossover pipe problem only affected 545s, not 550s? Did you get it fixed yet?

Yes it was so much fun! I was so surprised that it happen so early mileage wise.

How many miles? Was it an early 06, 07, or an LCI (08-10)?

And gotta love German sourced rubber. Another expensive fix caused by a premature component failure worth pennies...

I just recently picked up a 07 550i, so I have a couple questions for ya.

Did you replace it with oem or one of those collapsible transfer pipe kits u see online?

Was it a very difficult job other than removing the intake manifold?

Also, have any more pics you can share?

I've just started reading these forums again after about a 2 year break. I remember you very specifically for helping guys out with repairs and always being a huge help to the forums! Thanks!

I installed the All German Auto part as sold by Bimmerzone. Do not buy the addition kit if you have the rubber intake orings (550i) as the kit does not have it and you will have to buy it as additional parts costing you even more money.

Just nuts and bolts, attention to detail and common sense.

Thank you for saying that, sometimes these post I put up makes me wonder if it is just wasted air space...

And always check the ports to see of anything fell in!!!

I take a picture of the ports I cannot easily see inside. note the intake ferrule that fell inside the port!
