N62 Engine Removal - Preventative Maintenance thoughts?
My 06 550i needs plenty of work done to the engine. It needs Valve stem seals, timing case gaskets, and the alternator bracket gasket. The transmission also needs a new throwout bearing, but I'll probably do a clutch while I'm in there.
Since I'm going to be doing so many things with this N62 I'm thinking I'll show some compassion to my lower back and pull the engine to do all of these things. I'll probably knock out the rear main seal, coolant transfer pipe and timing chain guides while it's out along with the aforementioned repairs. What else is worth replacing while the engine is out? I'm considering oil pan gaskets and valley pan gaskets but am not 100% sure if it's so important.

Rear water jacket cover/gasket. If this cover leaks, you have to pull the engine to replace it, so definitely do it when you pull the engine.

Might as well do the lower timing cover gasket too.

That's on the list now. Thanks so much.
After doing some research and asking around it seems like the engine and transmission on the N62 can be dropped through the bottom with relative ease. I'm hoping its not a job with too many snags.
