N62 550i cold start "noise" with video

Hello Gents,

I think I'm hearing additional noise on the engine but not a 100% sure. I came back yesterday afternoon from an outdoor swim with my wife and while she was outside the car she said she heard a strange noise but what does she know right?:)....Although the good thing is her judgement is not influenced by any kind of engine knowledge whatsoever so it's a 100% based on what she hears and used to hear.
Anyways: Made small vid of a cold startup this morning and thought I'd share it hear so....firewa away if you like......:):)

Just used INPA with a running engine. Checked all the values including adaptations, vavle lifts etc....all within spec. I'm starting to think it migth be something with the clutch or dual mass flywheel. Not sure though. Or a starting to fail waterpump or powersterring pump but I dont think so as the soft rumblish sound is way to deep to come from those I think....

Not familiar with that engine (my E61 has the humble N52) but does it have DISA flaps in the intake manifold? My E46 had a similar noise that was a loose DISA flap shaft, and my E61's DISA flap broke off and went for a joy ride around the inside of the intake manifold...

edted to replace VANOS with DISA (brain cramp -- I really DO know the difference). ;-)

The N62 has DISA. The Vanos is the variable nockenwelle steurung. Not surewhat youy mean with vanos flaps in the intake. When driving I do have the feel the low rpm torgue is ok but lacks a bit on the higer rpm's (above 3000....)
Will go the an expert and have a listen....

Noise analysing done with a stethascope for engines and it proofs to be the waterpump on his way out. Not a big deal. The thermostat, the tensioner and the belt will be replaced as well. The car's up on thursday so now the pump has to hold on for another 25 KM before its put into the grave.

Sorry for the VANOS-DISA confusion (I edited my original post). I'm beginning to think that BMW has too many acronyms. ;-)

Also, I was going to recommend a mechanic's stethoscope. And trust me, all of us with I6 powerplants are jealous of the "no big deal" comment. ;-)

LOL....yeah well...there is lots of N62 seemingly simple issues which in practice proof to be costly and difficult. I'm just lucky with this one:)
