My service rep just called and told me the car wouldn't be ready today (I took it in at 8:30am). He said the reprogramming time varies depending on how much needs to be reprogrammed. He also mentioned if it crashes they need to start again from the beginning. I took it in thinking it was going to be an oil change and state sticker - so a couple hours max...

Don't be mad at the dealer, they are doing what told to do.

But I would be mad when the pump dies and you have to go back again.

I'm not mad at the dealer, they have been great for the three years I have had the car. I'm just frustrated that the "when is the pump going to die on me" situation is going to be around until there is a real fix for it. I purchased the car to keep it for a long time and I hate that the fuel pump issue may be something to worry about as long as I own the car.

Just heard from my BMW Client Advisor and he said the programming crashed on my car and also on another BMW at the same time. So now the car won't be ready until next week.

I'm not blaming the dealer on this, they are doing their best with a bad situation.

I have had a number of cars over the years - I'm 56 and have owned 2 Ford's, 4 Toyota's, 1 Honda, 1 Nissan, 1 Lexus, 2 BMW's, and 1 Porsche, and this isn't making me feel all warm and fuzzy about the newer BMW's (my first BMW was a 2 year leased 320i).

If you have a BMW loaner, what is bad you are racking up miles on the loaner instead of your car.

I had a nice new F11 loaner that I asked the service department to give me. I was excited to drive it and the updates to climate control and cruise control where nice the car seemed to float of the bumps. However when I got off the highway the car felt like a boat it is big and almost no road feel. I think I will keep my e61 when the lease ends. It may ride a little harder but it feels like a drivers car.

An F11 in Long Island? Or were you somewhere else at the time?

Exactly, but I thought they would keep the F11 from you guys in the states, individually imported or something?

They loaned me a 328 with X-Drive, and driving the 3 series immediately made me realize that I really miss my car!

Now it turns out that when the re-program crashed it took out my control module. They had to order one, but my car should be ready today. So 6 days for the programming service.
