Hello, this is my first posting on this board. And I've had my E60 for about 2 years now (2004 530i) and love the car!
However, I've had a mysterious trunk incident repeat itself twice during my ownership, and I'm curious to see if anyone else has experienced this. The second incident occured last night. I've come back to my car in a public lot and found the trunk wide open. I know that when I left the vehicle, everything was locked, with trunk closed. Is this a faulty electronic issue?
Any insights are appreciated.

Thanks for all the replies and the links to the previous threads about the issue. Holy cow! After reading all of these, I clearly have an electronics issue, and will be making an appt. with the dealer to upgrade the car's software (again)!!!
I love this forum!
Thanks.

More to the point dont put you key in your trouser pocket! So easy to operate the opening button by mistake as I and my colleages with E60's have found out! Laughing stocks of the company car park.

Use this kind of key chain for safty and avaibility.
I have heard that a new key can cost about $200!

I don't know how all of your remotes work so far away. I can't get mine to work unless I'm like 10-15 feet away from the car.

You need a new transmitter and a subsequent software upgrade--as did I.
