Idiot that I am, I kissed a curb and my rim appears to be flaking of where contact was made with the concrete. It almost looks like fibre (think of mdf). WTF? :think:

A pic could replace 1000 words ! Feel really bad for what happened. I f***ed up also when backing off and scratched the rear bumper an inch or so.

Well I did'nt ripped the rim but I somehow slice the bottom quarter near the rear wheel well, any suggestions on how it can be repaired, I was thinking, a little sanding to smooth it out with a smear of bondo and respray..........think it will work?????? :help:

I would have a professional repair the wheel. You'll be surprised how good it will look. Most of the time you can't tell the wheel has been damaged. Good luck with getting it fixed. And, welcome.

Uh, while the link provides a great write-up on a DIY wheel scratch repair, I would honestly recommend that the original poster take the car to a professional to have it re-finished. It really isn't that easy to repaint and refinish a scratched rim ... plus, most guys charge less than $100 USD for repairs jobs of this nature and they will come to you. :thumbsup:

I bought my 2004 used this summer. If ddkk kissed the curb with his car, then the previous owner of my car was getting pretty passionate with the curb using all 4 wheels. I saw them. Scrapes all the way around. The local dealer brought in "the wheel guy" who cleaned them up really nicely.

Of course, I kissed the curb the day after taking delivery. Still haven't told the bride about that and probably never will. $100 Canadian later and it's perfect again. It's definately worth hiring a pro to do wheel repairs.
