My next car will be...an E60
It's been 3 years since I first joined the E60 band, and its been 3 years of electronic failures, clutch failure, CCC replacements and many more...
I was close of leaving the band to join the Audi team.... But BMW was there when they needed to be: they acknowledged the issues; and they helped make it possible to change my 520d 2006 for a 2009 520d LCI. With the combined help of my local dealer.
The only thing I hope is that the new CIC system 2009 will be somewhat more stable than the CCC....
Now, if this 2009 LCI model is to raise disappointment..... I can't even think of it...

Hope this car will give you more luck than the last one
Is it still possible to add factory options? Then may I suggest the sports steering wheel (option 255) or the M-sport steering wheel? Those are not expensive, but certainly will provide you with even more driving pleasure!
While we're at it, throw in Shadow line exterior (ditch the chrome, also very low-cost option) and black roof liner (inside of roof).

Give it another year and there will probably be a cheap Chinese clone, it might not be safe to ride in however, but it cant be much worse in realiability eh
