Hi!
I have owned my 535d for a while but there is one function i have no idea what it does !! My light switch (to turn lights on or off), apart from turning it left or right, it can also be pushed in. And then it goes in by 1cm. Any idea what this does? Also my car should have adaptive lights but i have never experienced them working. Is there a way to test them without driving the car? |
I *think* the light switch moving in is a design feature to stop it being broken by people hitting it with their knees. I can't see any other reason for it, as it only goes in with a bit of force. I have actually bashed it in pretty hard with my knee (whilst doing some gymnastics trying to get in over a giant puddle) so I'm glad it does it, even if it wasn't a deliberate thing by the guy who designed it.

interesting. I bet then that it was intentionally created for the purpose you mentioned. These BMW engineers think of everything!

For the adaptive feature, the light switch must be turned to the Auto position. In the US, it is Auto - Off - Park - Headlight.

ok so in short what you are saying is that while the car is stationary if i put the switch to the auto position and ask my wife to turn the steering wheel, i should see the lights turn when I am standing in front of the car?

Sit inside the car and project the headlight against a wall. I think you might have to have the car rolling, but im not sure.
