Takes a while to be able to change Sirius channels, navigate between screens, etc. Common, or a problem that can be fixed? '06 550 w/nav.

I think it's a universal problem... mine is pretty slow as well!
You know, when using voice recognition as well - when you say "A to Z List" (for your phonebook) - it takes like 5 seconds and then the computer repeats "A to Z List" and then shows you the list of contacts! It's stupid!
Start-up is definitely slow! I find that it's quite slow when entering navigation address as well!

I think it's common and "normal" (according to BMW). Mine takes a while to start, especially if I need to enter an address into the NAV. The farther away I am when I open the doors (waking up the iDrive) it seems the sooner it is fully active.

I agree with it being a universal problem. You just gotta give it a minute to load up. Its the GPS that slows it down, it has to relay the signal. My radio is usually a tad sluggish at first, but after a minute its all good. Not worth taking to BMW, you're just wasting your time.
