Mine did it yesterday. While driving, the screen suddenly went black. Restarting didn't help, although twice upon startup it displayed the BMW startup screen before going black.

All I-Drive functions kept working, but I-Drive is fairly hard to use without a screen :'( . I did manage some voice command functions for things like changing the radio from preset mode to "all station" mode.

The car is at the dealer now. They suspect a faulty screen, and are keeping the car overnight until a new screen arrives tomorrow.

No loaner -- I'm walking again  .

I assume that you have left the car turned off for an extended period, and the display still won't work. I have noticed that your car seems to have a number of computer-related issues. All I can suggest is that you find a competent BMW dealer and have them install the latest software. In this regard, you might end up with a reinstall of your existing software, but you still might end up better off since you may have received a bad install, somehow, in the first place.

My iDrive went totally blank for two days and nothing worked. The entire central computer (CCC) had to be replaced. Dealer didn't have the part, so it had to be Fed-Ex'd in. The car was gone for 3+ days. Could be that.
