This is the first message I am posting on this forum.Have been reading it for the last few months, and happy to see nothing but usefull, constructive, and educational information and questions posted. Have seen no trolls, please continue to keep them away.THEY SERVE NO USEFULL PURPOSE.
Taking delivery on a 545ia, hopefully the week of July 4th. It's hard to imagine I placed my original order back in Oct. 2002.Wanted to be among the first cars delivered to the USA when later released in 2003.
Original order was for a 530i, but later changed to a 545ia with sport package to get the V8 engine. I than held my order up when the navigation feature was delayed(remember that).I guess it might turn out better getting the car later in the model year anyway(June 11 build) as BMW continues to improve the E60.
Actually my 1997 528i was one of the first E39's shipped to the USA in August 1996, and that car now has 282,000 miles and is still going strong. That should disprove the "don't buy in first model year" theory. I think BMW went through the learning curve on the 7 series and the quality of the E60's gives evidence of that.
Like others on this board, I am dissapointed I could not get Serius radio factory installed(with navigatin), and no Bluetooth available, but still hopeing for a retro. in the near future if we get lucky. Cross your fingers.
Ordered Silver gray/beige interior with step.,Logic 7,cold weather , sport package,comfort seats,fold down rear,PDC and navigation.
Waiting all this time has been very difficult to say the least, but I know it will be more than worth it. Just hope my 528i holds up, although I will probaly continue to keep it as a second car. It's still that good.
Just a request to keep the high quality posting going. Really appreciate this first-class board for a first -class car.

Netjazz,
Welcome! Hope you get your car when you say -- I know you've waited some time, let's hope it doesn't get any longer...
Thanks for posting and see you around the forums.

October 2002!! That's got to be some kind of record. I ordered Oct. 2003 and received April 2004. That was painful, but got what I wanted. Hope you do, too. Keep the faith and welcome.

Netjazz,
Welcome, hope your car arrives on time. I'm waiting for my ED 545i to be delivered to my dealership in Tucson. I hope to reunite with my car this week.

NetJazz: Another Welcome here. How come you had to or wanted to wait for a June build? Did you pick that specifically so you could get some of the bugs worked out by us giniea pigs?. If Nav was all that held you up, your auto would have been available in a March build. Thanks.

Welcome NetJazz. You have more will power than most to have waited as long as you have, and to also have delayed your order as well. My 8 week wait was bad enough. Enjoy your car when it arrives.
Cheers,
Malc.
