Ok, my iDrive indicated that I need new microfilter, so I scheduled a service appointement last week. I also had few minor issues that I wanted to fix, such as clicking sound near front bumper when opening doors with the remote, passenger airbag light was acting up, battery warning light, etc.

So I bring my car to my dealer (Autobahn, Fort Worth, TX) and after about 10 minutes my service advisor tells me that it shoudl take about 3 hours since they need to upload new software to the car to fix all the electronic glitches (clicking sound, passenger airbag, battery warining light). I don't know what version was intalled on my car, but everything was working perfectly and I was really relictant to change my software... but he ensured me its the best version yet (CIP 20). In addition, he told me that my rear brake pads and sensor needs to be replaced (I had no warning of any kind) which was really strange since the car has only 11K miles on it. Last time I checked service indicator showed 14K miles left on rear brakes, so I don't know what to think about this. ?

7 hours later! I finally got a call from my service rep. They told me that my battery warning was not a glitch, but real - my battery failed 2 hours into software update and they had to replace the battery and re-load the software again. Very weird again - the car is 2 years old and battery was never abused.

After driving "fixed" car for a day I had another glitch - iDrive indicated Active Steering failure right after the start in the morninig. I turned the car off, and on again, and the warning was gone, never to appear again. I hope this is a glitch and not a software bug. Otherwise, the car seems fine - I don't notice much difference in active steering response after upgrade, but I noticed that CD responds slower to song changes, etc, and my gearbox feels a bit sluggish from the start on D. My fuel economy increased a little bit (about 1-2 miles), but its stil lto early to tell if this is permanent.

I also had my battery replaced after approximately two years when the car just died in my garage and had to be flat bedded to the dealer. I thought a battery typically lasted for 6 years.

Everything sounds right/plausible to me, except for what's above. Is the Step shifting slower? Does the car seem to have less power?

No, it does not shift slower, it feels like it has less power/torque from the start.

I am not totally surprised. If you are interested in my experience with 20.01.00, check these threads out.

When I had my first upgrade it seemed to be slower or sluggish.

So, is it back to normal now? Does it learn?
I heard somewhere that your transmission learns while you drive it, but once you stop and turn it off, its back to square one - is this true? I've been driving in my (usual) agressive style for the las couple of days since the upgrade, and the box still seems slugginsh. How long does it take to learn, if ever?
