BMWs out of warranty are very expensive to maintain correctly and VERY EXPENSIVE when they break.

Maybe your next car should be "new" and in your price range so as to have a manufacture's warranty.
You do have a point...

Wow, look at you Mr. I have a 545. You know there are a lot of enthusiasts that not necessary can afford one of the newer BMW?s but still drive one, whether it?s an older one or not because they just love driving experience that these machines deliver. If you want to judge people like that for whatever reason then maybe you shouldn?t be here.
exactly.

Sorry to hear bro, but I can tell you that acuras aren't problem free either. My good friend has a tsx that he babies and since buying it new he has had to have everything under the sun replaced on it luckily all under warranty. But he had his engine replaced under warranty at 100000 km also at 25000 km is entire dash died minus the gauges and they wanted to charge him for that I itially saying that lights are not covered. No brand will go with no issues I'm sorry to hear that maybe you got a lemon Bmw and it's too bad that you are giving upon them. GL on your next car
I'm not giving up on BMW yet, if this gets resolved and I can get a few more years out of it without major issues I will look at another BMW (CPO from a BMW dealer this time). The driving experience simply can't be matched by any other auto maker. I just had to vent.

I'm glad to here that you haven't given up yet, when I hear stories like yours I'm very glad that I still have CPO warranty on my car for a little while longer but I do plan on keeping my car past it's warranty because I am one of those people that can't afford to always buy a new Bmw to have warranty all the time which according to some should not be owning a Bmw. Anyways GL with your Bmw and hopefully things start going better.

I don't belong here?

The OP said...

the POS back on the road, only to wait for another breakdown.

I don't trust this car

This is my last BMW.

They're so overrated!!

My next car will be either Acura or Lexus.
Expensive foreign cars are expensive to repair. There are plenty of threads on the risk of owning an E60 out of warranty. I may try my luck with an E36 or E46 325 but only if I had a good independent shop I trusted. I was in the Lexus dealer last week, a woman needed a tailpipe and muffler, $1,050, for a muffler.

What kind of response do you expect when people trash the whole brand because their car broke

Brand alone is not a determinant of reliability. I have leased 2 Infinitis, a supposely very reliable brand. One, a 1996 Q45t, was a complete POS and was always in the shop. By far the most trouble car I have ever had. The other, a 2006 M45 Sport was totally reliable and never broke down once. My one former BMW, a 2003 540i Sport was also bulletproof and never broke down. If you went by brand, my Q45 should have been reliable. But it wasn't.

Yup, expensive cars are expensive to repair. Buying any car out of warranty is a risk, and the more expensive the car the more the risk.
