My '04 530i is in need of some serious repairs. Just found out from 2 different mechanics that my cylinder head is CRACKED!!! Didn't drive it like a retard, regular maintenance, babied, etc. I'm getting oil in my coolant overflow tank. Took the car to a respected engine specialist (the dealer wanted $7800!!!). Long story short, in 2 weeks and about $4000 later I'll have the POS back on the road, only to wait for another breakdown. I don't trust this car to take the family down south to Florida anymore. I can't/won't trade it in b/c I'll get raped on the depreciation. BTW I'm out of warranty... 94,000 km. This is my last BMW. They're so overrated!! My next car will be either Acura or Lexus.

I sincerely hope you never have to go through what I went through. My wife and I both love the car but...
BTW I'm sticking around.

I just wanted to chime in on this...My last car was an Infiniti and I had all kinds of electrical problems with it. I had to go to the dealer 13 times in 10 months. It was ridiculous. My car before that was an Acura and I had to have the tranny replaced twice. The car only had 36K miles on it when I got rid of it.

My point to this is just because you have a bad experience with one car by BMW shouldn't make you not want another one. Even though my Acura had the same problem twice I still went out and purchased a new Acura for my wife a few months ago. Also when I traded in my Infiniti M45 I was considering getting a new one. I guess the one advantage I may have had over your situation is the fact that both of those problem cars still had a warranty so I never had to spend any money out of pocket. This stuff happens with all car companies...If you were talking about a GM, Chrysler, or KIA I would say yes don't buy another one.

You may not give a crap about my opinion, but I figured I give you my take on this. Good luck!

Hey, it's cool man. Just to be safe, you should skip luxury as a whole and stick straight to reliability. I see a Ford Pinto on eBay. It's got a sport package with an intercooler..or maybe it's a lynched raccoon. I dunno.
