Here is an attempt I made in studying the lines of the E60 and other engineering aspects of this great automobile.

To be honest, when the E60 first came out, I thought it was the ugliest 5 series to date. Emotions ran through my head making me think I should write a letter to BMW to demand Chris Bangle be fired for making such a hideous looking 5er.

Well over time and 5 years later, the car has aged very well and has taken on a muscular, brawny look. It has very much grown on me and when I step into my garage, I always look twice at the awesome lines. The car looks great at every angle.

The E60 design has influenced the automotive design industry at other design camps....I mean you can see the Bangle influence (especially the Bangle Butt) now on pretty much every import car such as:

The Honda Accord
Toyota Camery
Several Lexus models
Acura TL
etc.

well check it out:

E60? Ugly?

You have no taste. And no, I'm not sorry for saying that.

Love the way you frame the shots. Very simple with focus!

Great pictures and good subjects

What do you shoot with? Would like to know your aperture settings and focal lengths. Thanks.

Your E60 is ugly compared to that funky squished red car....

I got to disagree though. Sorry but Chris Bungled is totally useless as a car designer. He has messed up the once great looks BMW cars had. Yes the only ones that will copy the bungled design will be the japanese. Just look at the germans cars. Audi and Merc of late look stunning but years ago they were ugly (especially mercs).

Today both those cars introduced the side waist line which IMHO is what made BMW cars stand out. Our 5 today has that side line missing and that kills it for me. Thankfully the interior, the way the cars drive and engines were not Chris Bungled to fiddle with and those are what still keeps my candle burning for BMW cars.

cheers

ps: Park the original Z3 next to the new Z4 and I would take the keys of the former. It looks far better than the new z4.
