It has been relatively cold lately, approx -5 overnight, which I realise will be warm to some you guys!! However, when I get in my car and run it on the drive for a while it takes significantly longer to warm up than my old (2003) Vectra. The blowers blow cold for ages and it is slow to defrost.
Anyone else experience this?? |
Do you have diesel or petrol? Diesels are MUCH slower to heat up, because of the higher engine efficiency (i.e. bigger part of the fuel's energy is converted to movement instead of heat).

Anyone else experience this?? The heaters do not blow on 'AUTO' until they're 'ready'. If you're asking for heat and the car is cold they won't blow for a couple of minutes. You can override this... (But it will not be warm) Mine (530d) starts to blow warm after about 2 minutes... |

Anyone else experience this?? Could you please update your signature. It could help if we knew what engine you got. My car gets warm in about 10 to 15 minutes when it's about minus 10 C outside. |
I've found the same vs. my old Porsche, but the diesel vs. petrol explanation put forward by Heikki explains this.
|
The heating should take about 8 min when the temp outside is -7 Celsius.
|
I don't know any exact times or temperatures but in my experiences, I feel the car heats up very quickly -- way faster than 8, 10, or 15 minutes...
Maybe it's a V8 thing? |
My seats and steering wheel are warm real fast and this takes the edge off for me.
