yea that happens with my car sometimes as well...loud jerk when i change from R to D or vice versa

Just got home from work and it made the same noise, from the rear wheels, on level terrain. Just seems to be the car trying to move, causing the brakes to groan against the strain. Never really paid attention to it until your thread, doesn't seem like a tranny issue to me...

I'm no mechanic but that doesn't really sound like transmission to me...more suspension or body creaking. Never heard of a transmission creaking. If changing from P to R causes a noise I would expect more of a slam or knock if the transmission was acting up?

Well, if it is the sound is like a Somalian pirate ship would make, you might have an RPG lock problem. Be careful though if you try to fix this one yourself.
