thank you guys for your replies.

well the car isnt paid off. with your comments it seems 50/50. as for transmission tell tales.. i havent felt anything yet, or signs yet (cross fingers). dont get me wrong, its a great car, but with its name, it comes expensive too in terms of labor, and for parts, there are ways we can get at a discount.

what blows me is when i tried to go to a stealership they valued my car at $10k, so i said screw you.

so i guess ill be keeping it and let you guys know what happens after 100k.

yeah im thinking about modding my car..

right now its bone stock. the only thing i changed i think was the floor mats to all season, lol.
im getting tints tomorrow. im contemplating on 35% all around. its silver so i think it should be okay. next maybe M-Tech kit. but i have to save on that one. i want to get over with my monthly payments first so it will be out of my way.

thank you so much guys for your input. im keeping the car.

What exactly are tell tale signs of a major motor or transmission failure?
Pending motor issues tell-tales: Exhaust smoke; oil or coolant leaks or excessive consumption; lumpy idle - rough running; mechanical noises at idle or speed; sudden decrease in power; erratic engine temperature.
Pending transmission issue tele-tales: Sudden lurching or engagement /dis-engagement of gears; engine revving between shifts; erratic shifting; leaking seals & gaskets.

Electronic - electrical related issues are very difficult to diagnose and expensive to repair. Module failures are not uncommon.

They are great cars, you will enjoy it. I think you should go with 30% tints. I too wanted 35% and I had the installer put a 30% film on the window and it looked great. I can still see in my car and it's not excessively dark. But in the end it's all your choice.

With those mentioned AFAIK im on the clear. thats a great FYI. thanks! im concerned too with electrical issues. last time i brought my car to dealership to do ipod retrofit, i did the mod since its plug-n-play, but when its time to do the coding, they said its not accepting the kit. SA said the tech cant tell what is exactly wrong, and to diagnose he is charging me $700. just to diagnose. with back n fort calls with my extended warranty i ended up paying the $700 (thanks for BMW CCA i got a discount) HOWEVER, the part that needs to be replaced isnt covered by extended warranty nor maintenance. SA said additional $1,500. so i said screw that, just to make a $200 kit to work and i have to fork more money for it. i gave up.

yep, electronics.. its great but when it goes down. its expensive!!

title says..

i have maintenance warranty until 100k, i am at 97,8xx mi now. i got it used but high mileage. so far problems i had was minor
electronics (failure/error that was fixed): restraint failure, light module (eyebrows not lighting), new battery.
current problem: can not do ipod retrofit. some part is bad.

everything else car is on shape. however ive seen post that guys had their car went dead suddenly.

my options.. well this car is financed to own. my mistake, its my first bmw i shouldve leased. so should i trade it in before it hits 100k?
or should i just keep it and cross my fingers that hopefully.. nothing expensive will break soon after 100k.

any input i would really appreciate it. thanks guys!!
The thing is if you are going to sell it, i think you have to unload before it turns that 100k. If you keep it after that then you might as well drive it into the ground.

I say keep it. Sounds like the car has had a pretty good track record so far. If you are somewhat handy with a wrench and stay away from the dealer you should be fine. I have one of the cars you were reading about that suddenly went dead. Seems like the common issues are battery, alternator, and the starter. All of which can be replaced for a couple hundred bucks each. I spent $168 for a rebuilt Bosch starter that comes with a 2 year warranty. I also wave a centennial battery with a 75 month warranty and they have great customer service. I called at 9pm and they were there to point me to their nearest distributor.

My personal opinion i would say keep it if the car is paid off. If not i would get another vehicle. If the car is paid off your only left with doing schedule maintenance. If the car is not paid off it would be expensive to do both, payment and maintenance in the long run.
good point!!!
