End spots always, reduces chances of a ding by 50%. Walk, walk, walk, park far away, it's good anyway, like taking the stairs. I think a lot of dings result from kids opening doors on vans and SUVs. No dings here in at least 7 years and 2 cars.

My Ride: Expected delivery on 15 Jan 2007 525I Olivian Green, Beige Interior, PP, CWP, PDC, SP, Rear shades, heated rear seats, Ipod fitted, Nav, Oem Rims 166, Xenon Lights, Wood grain package, illuminated door sills
Sorry to hear about that, i think we have all been through it. I think its human nature subconciously that people have to mess up what is percieved to be nice. So yea parking in two spots sometimes works, but you have those few who fill they can still fit in the parking spot left over.
Best bet is to just park far back and walk, but eventually we all might as well as walk to where we have to go since people just follow our cars no matter where we park.

Now, ktlockler, let me be more like the person I really am ..
I'm sure you didn't mean to call me lazy - nor do I intend to infer that people in Alabama are obtuse.

Sometimes personal circumstances don't make it practical or reasonable to park in the distant fringes of a parking lot. But that's neither plain or simple
Door dings are just a fact of life...I park far away, I park in the first spot...hell, my car doesn't even leave the garage and I seem to find dings. I am a proud owner of an e60 and SUV. I guess it depends on the person, because even if my tahoe was parked close, I would sacrifice smashing my fingers before I left a a ding on someones door...it just isn't right.
Hopefully, you have paintless dent removal in NJ...we have em here in Chicago and they come to your place of business to limit your inconvenience

Parking at the farthest spot is the best insurance against dings. I don't care if I have to walk 100 yds or 1,000 yds. It's good exercise, anyway. This attitude changes once the wife inherits the car and then it becomes a "mommy's car" and at that point I don't care any more. Surprisingly, she's only managed one ding in the year and a half she's been driving the E46. I'm impressed.

I'm actually from El Dorado Hills, CA just east of Sacramento. I took a promotion with my company and relocated here. So I take no offense to the above stabs....instead I find it quite humorous, as you nailed it right on the head to the typical mindset of the population here, which I cannot stand. I cringe pretty much every time I hear someone talk
My wife and I stick out like a HUGE sore thumb, and get the "U ain't from here is ya" question all the time.I wasn't calling you lazy, so if you took offense to that I do apologize
but if 100 yards is not far enough out, then go further out. No matter how far of a walk it is, I always park the furthest I can away and walk, regardless of how non-practical it is. I couldn't tell you the last time I actually parked directly next to another vehicle.Again, if you have it in your mind to park close especially in a retail parking lot, then expect a new ding every now and then, because most people just don't care if they hit your car when they open their doors....just a fact of life.

I'm not from Alabama. I wouldn't claim this state if I had too!
