the only time you'd want to run a thicker oil is when you want to mask a problem and offload your car.

your oil light coming on at idle is not a good sign. assuming the oil pressure switch is working properly, it means that your engine is getting worn and the bearing clearance cant hold as much oil pressure.

The exact thing happend to me. It turned out to be a valve that controls how much oil goes to the engine. I can't remember what the valve is called.

I stepped outside to see what's shaking, the engine sounds ok, but the smoke comes out of the exhaust is weird. It doesn't blow out smoke smoothly. Instead of coming out smooth air flow, it comes out in sudden spurts.

He didn't have time and he's more porsche and audi.

I took it to my friend's shop. A little bit further, but they do bmw racing in Europe. They know what they are doing. We had tested out a lot of things, such as spark plugs, infrared for over heating....I was there when we were doing the test.

Good times.

He also told me, instead of changing the engine oil every 5 thousand miles, you should change it every 3 thousand. BMW wants your engine to break down, because they have to sell engines.
I'll let you know more when they open the block.
