yep, still a double cannister setup..everything looks the same from the resonators up to the mufflers.
The exhaust valve i was refering to exists on the right hand pipe (looking at the muffler from the rear) between the muffler and exhaust tip. It operates via a vaccum pump and small rubber hose. It keeps the second muffler closed at low rpm for backpressure and possibly emmision reasons - I'm just unable to catch a glimpse of it from the last pic if it exists or not...
Does it exist on your car as well ?
here is a pic of what I am refering to :

Guys, this is interesting news...
1. Absence of the muffler valve achieves the sportier sound BMW refered to.
2. Round muffler tips also give a sportier and distinct look.
Apart from these 2 points there is nothing else different from the other V8 mufflers.
Eventually the part no. of the sports and non sports muffler system will confirm this.
It has been a practice from some members to keep the valve open for a throatier sound but there was a question of loss of backpressure at low rpm under load.
Has this valve just been about noise abatement all along ?
