An Audi TT decided to make an impromptu left turn in front of me across a double yellow line and two lanes of on-coming traffic recently. Fortunately we both had cat like reflexes and came to a screeching halt but not before his front license plate screw button covers made cat like scratches in my left front. Luckily our cars barely made contact. There was no damage to the Audi at all and almost none to my car and everyone is ok. I have the front end covered with a clear bra and the scratches only seem to be into the plastic bra and not the paint itself. Hopefully I will require no paint and just have the bra removed and replaced.
The 19 year old kid and his friend who hit me were apparently very hungry and were trying to get into Arbys' parking lot. He was driving Mom and Dads car and he was super nervous. I felt bad for him. He was a reall ynice kid so I joked around with him that at least I got hit by another German car and that he should have eaten at Wendy's. Anyway, here are a couple pics from the Arbys' parking lot. One shot of the scratches and one shot of my car side by side with the TT featuring the perps. You can see from the strange 6/G-shaped marks how the front ends dove while braking.

Fortunately for your cat-like reflexes (and some luck), you get away with no serious damage. That's good, could have been ugly and you would have a messed up front-end and not at all your fault. Glad you "dodged the bullet".

Hope the damage was only to the clear bra! Good luck!

DRANGED,

Sorry to hear about that. Is their insurance going to pay for it?

DRANGED

glad you are ok - that's all that matters in the end.

Did you at least get the other guy's insurance info and is he covering the bra repair?

That's quite an amazing sight. I mean, you hear of missing something "by an inch," but what's the thickness of a clear bra, a millimeter? Two cars hurtling right at each other and you missed by a millimeter? Won't see that very often. Glad it worked out for you.

It sounds like you lucked out but I would check for spiderweb cracks in the paint under the clear bra. Also, its possible the Audi hit just hard enough to cave in the plastic bumper a bit. Make sure that nothing behind it got compressed. Press in that side compared to the other side. I had a 540i that got tapped in a parking lot. I didn't notice any damage until the next wash job. A whole section of the bumper could be pressed in 1/2 inch because the under support got pushed in. Just looking at it, the bumper showed no damage.
