I thought our cars have motion detection with the alarm on the inside? so if you reach inside the car, the alarm will sound...

If, and I mean if, the lock can be turned with a screwdriver and all the windows go down, it probably disarms the alarm as well. (It would be like turning the key in the keyhole and holding it to lower the windows.)

Although I'm not doubting the information that VaSh9394 has, I find it hard to believe that this is possible...

It takes a WHILE for the motion sensor to go off in your car. Roll down all your windows, then get out and lock your car. Then start flailing your hands inside the interior for a while. Tell me if it takes a while for it to go off......Mine does.

You could conceivably reach in and grab a pair of sunglasses, camera, etc., without the alarm even going off.....!!!

No, I think it takes a while for the motion sensor to ARM. Roll down your windows, get out and lock the car. Go take a walk for a few minutes (not sure exactly how many but it may be in TFM) then come back and flail your arms inside the interior. The alarm should go off very quickly...

just like the key they force the lock to turn then all windows came down as if you the owner put in the key and open the doors then they pop the lock breaking. i didn't mind the phone being stolen but the oakley's my wife got me cost $$450 and another 400 for a replacement lock cylinder.

[quote name='VaSh9394' date='Dec 7 2004, 02:13 PM'][quote name='JDN' date='Dec 7 2004, 04:02 PM']VaSh9394, I am surprised that the interior alarm of the 545 did not go off. If you set the alarm system with one push of the center key button, that sets the interior motion detector. Anyone reaching in should have set it off. Now two pushes on the center key button might disarm the motion sensor.

Thanks for the quick info I didn't know that but I'm still upset is that easy to pop the lock
on a 68K car

No kidding - I am shocked. How much damage did they do? When you say "popped the lock" do you mean they actually ripped the lock out of the door handle or just forced it to turn till it unlocked the car (hence no alarm)?

you guys should check with your dealer I had 2 sources to comfirm this!
theres nothing special about the key if you force it to turn then all your windows will open and disarm the car and yes they open my car and took out the key cylinder so all you see is a broken small hole next to the door handle. sorry i dont have a digital cam but plan on getting one soon :'( I will only be taking the 545i for joyrides from now on and use the S500 for daily driving.
