Well, I finally picked up my 545 yesterday and I could not have picked a worse day. We just had a huge snowstorm in Toronto, with almost 20 - 30 cm. of snow. Was I going to let that stop me?
Hell no.
I did realize, however, with the power of the 545, that I will need winter tires, so I phoned every tire store in the city to get some Dunlop M3's. Guess what? Sold out in Toronto, tried online, sold out at Tirerack.com. Luckily, my BMW dealer found one last set of M3 runflats with rims and had them delivered that day from out of town.
I drove to the dealer with my old 530 (MY 02) with all seasons, and it was not a pleasant experience. Traction control seemed to be working overtime.
Now, the experience with the 545 was great. The M3's tires do ride a little harsh, but traction was not a problem. I was passing SUV,s, and going up an onramp, there was a car stuck in snow and one in the ditch, but no problem for me. I took the car to a parking lot (last minute X-Mas shopping at the mall, parked furthest away because I hate those door dings), and tried to spin the car out on a very icey surface. Car held great.
Now, some first impressions:
The car looks great, the interior feels great.
I-drive is not difficult, I had it figured out in about 15 minutes. I do not understand why people find it difficult. The only area I thought was a pain was the initial storing of radio stations, but I find if I go to all stations, I just use the steering wheel buttons to change stations. Voice command makes it even easier. Navigation works well, althought initially it was a little slow when I was entering addresses.
The car is whisper quiet, it is the quitest car I have ever been in. Would like to hear more of the V8 rumble, though.
All in all, I am very pleased with my decision, and I can't wait until the Break-In period is over.

I got a MY05 545 with silver-grey, black interior, anthracite trim, with park distance control navigation, and steptronic transmission.
I leased, the residuals right now are higher. I paid invoice + 3 % (including options), lease rate 6.95 %, residual set at full value of vehicle.
I will get a new car in three years.

Cool, nice ride man. Did your car come with bluetooth capability? Mine didn't
and it has a build date of 10/04 weird... maybe its a Canadian thing? Anyways its not a really big deal for me because i dont even have a bluetooth phone to begin with. Also, did your dealer push you to get some undercoating for your car?
