My Ride: 2003, Passat W8 Station Wagon.
Post

Thanks to all of you who populate this forum, your lively discussions helped me take the leap and purchase a 2008 535xi, replacing my '03 Passat W8 (which I loved). Now now its time to enjoy the fun ride!

BMW Toronto ... June delivery (the snow should have stopped). I am told the options change by Country, so here is the beast with its Canadian options. One question: I got the production number yesterday, how do I now track it's every move!!

535xi, Platinum Grey with Natural Brown interior
Technology Package
- Lane Departure Warning
- On-Board Navigation
- Voice Control
- Head-Up Display
Premium Package
- Uni Garage opener (it will live outside)
- Dimming mirrors (out / in)
- Heated rear seats
- Logic7
- Front Comfort seats
- Park Distance
+ USB Interface (extra)

Woo Hoo!

Absolutely great set-up! I'm sure you'll never give up HUD after getting getting used to it. Do you already know 0-60 mph performance of your car?

I acually only test drove the 525i, so I guess once the 0-xxkm's are released I will have to blast down the 427 to test it!

You picked a great set up and I think that color will be fantastic. There is nothing like owning a BMW--there truly are no other cars (daily drivers) that compare. It will be hard to wipe the smile off your face. Best of luck and post pics.

Can't really track it, because we don't have an owner's circle like Americans. Only way is to keep bugging your SA. Or, get the VIN from your SA when it's available, type it into the shipping company's website, and it should tell you when it's expected at Halifax.

Most ships to Halifax should be through Wallenius Wilhelmsen, which you can track through their website by typing in your VIN.

This is how I tracked my car when I was waiting last year, may have changed since then.

Congrats on the car! I just ordered one myself (2008 528xi) two weeks ago. How did you find out you would have a June delivery? My dealer couldn't be specific on delivery yet as I just have an order number but no production date yet. I'm dying to know when mine will go into production!

You're absolutely going to love it. I drove a brand new 535xi yesterday at the BMW X-Drive event here in Vancouver. They were saying that these were the first to arrive in Canada. We drove the 528xi and 535xi (sport & premium)on a test track (on a municipal airport runway that BMW rented) against an A6 3.2 S-Line and an MB E-350 4matic. We also drove and X-5 3.0si and an X-5 4.8i against the Q-7 and ML-500.

Now I don't like SUV's as they feel like driving buses. However, the new 5's were sweet. I drive a 525 and after driving the 535, it was sure hard to go back to my own car. The power and acceleration are awsome IMHO - 300 HP and 300 ft lbs torque available at 1400rpm (BMW specs)- wow. It was awesome throwing the cars around the track course!!! I think you're going to love it! One of the cars had brown seats - looked great! Very unique but looked very nice.

Hi,

I already order and base on BMW Circle status"waiting transportation"

2008 535xi
Deep green metallic
Natural brown
Prim + Cold weather+ sport pack.
Nav
HUD
Comfort
Park Dist. Control
IPOD/USB

Total price 0 down 775 delivery title and registartion in nyc ( standart)
$805.00 36 m 10 000.00 miles p/y + tax

I can't wait for that baby ( currently i have 2003 MB CLK 320 and I love that car) even I 'm moving from 2dr but to BMW originaly I want 650 ( don't hate me ) but as of today to $$$ ( best deal I got $1180.00) . 550i was my second but in NYC driving 550i sport pack. redicul. on my MB ( low profile tire) I have change 5 sets of tires (250 each tire (250x4) x 5 extra $5000 for the fun. Sorry no more .

19 ' for 550i will cost me arond $300 each. otherwise 550i is TOP , also 550i w/out sport package I think is waist of money if you are getting 550i get sport package + active ster. As soon as I will get my baby ( did anyone saw DEEP GREEN METALLIC w/ natural brown ??? ) I will upload some pictures.

I've been researching and studying researching since last August and I can't get around the fact that I think BMW is going to give me a better quality car than anyone else, plus the included maintenance can't be beat.

That said, what kind of deal did you all get on your 535xi's? How much off of sticker did they give you, or when you order in advance is it basically "you pay MSRP" type of deal?

Has any car website reviewed the 535xi and posted specs?

Thanks. Congrats on the cars, guys.
