buy the lysol crisp linen aerosol spray, open you micro filter, take out the filter and spray the the duct with lysol!!!! its temp solution but its a solution when aircondition smells!!!

I recently took my car to the dealer for the musty smell problem. They also gave me a hard time about repairing this under warranty and acted like they were doing me a huge favor by looking at it. They performed an evaporator core cleaning procedure. This seemed to help, but after about a week, the smell is starting to creep back. Not quite as bad as it was, but it seems to be heading in that direction. It is for 5ish seconds after starting the car when it has been sitting for a bit.
So what else should I do? I have seen different people recommend a variety of potential solutions. I think replacing the microfilter and using some spray into the vents are the most common that I have seen. It sounds like the dealer won't change the microfilter since idrive doesn't say that it needs replacement. How much is a microfilter if I purchase myself and how easy is it to install? Also, what is the best spray to use for the vents. I think I've seen people mention a spray that is specifically meant for this use, but I can't find the name of it. Anyone know?

i have learned the hard way not to smoke ANYTHING with your AC on or the smell will remain in your filter and everytime u turn it on it will stink for like 10 seconds

I've got the same problem with mine, last for about 30 seconds. I'll deal with it next spring.

I have the same problem, no idea what causes it - except maybe the lack of use. I never use my AC, even in summer, guess I just figure why live in SoCal if you're going to be closed up in the car all the time.

lol i dont use it much either considering it contributes to gas waste...i end up putting like 8-10 gallons every 2-3 days
