Sean, NO ONE knows what you know! ;-) I stand in awe of your depth of knowledge about these complicated cars!

Man I'm still learning. I don't know half of what the techs in my group knows. I've just been working on the BMWs for almost 15 years. The F and G series are the ones that's the hardest to learn since they have modules for just about everything. Hell you know enough to be dangerous at least from what ive been reading. Most of working in these cars is just understanding how electronics work electrically and mechanically. The rest is learning the programs and having the mechanical skills. Once owners understand they are not driving a Toyota or Honda they can understand how these cars work and it helps having an IT background.

Not sure if it's the right car for a guy like me that has to have everything working. Most people keep the good book by their bed. I printed out the owners manual and keep it on the nightstand. I'm not very far into it but start'n to get intrest'n.

I'm the same way. I need everything working that's why I took the time to learn it. Trust me when I first bought the car it didn't start out that way. I had to learn. You can throw that manual away because it will not help you on fixing issues. I don't think the whole time I've owned BMWs I've looked at the manual. Take your time and you'll learn it. I started out giving my money away to the dealership until they quoted me $7k for a transmission. That's when I said it's time to learn. Once I fixed it with a lifetime warranty on what was wrong for $900 I knew then to own it I had to DIY. We are here to assist when you need it.
