I modded my nav screen and everything stopped working. To my knowledge my electrics were fine so i kept replacing fuses when my screen would shut off. Then i replaced a fuse today and i noticed smoke comming from my spare tire. I pulled everything out frantically t o find my my "MPM" on fire...Literally.. It has a huge hole in it. What do i do now? I have no idrive system but the car starts perfectly. BTW my trunk had about 2 inches of water in it probably from a spilled cooler. I am out of warranty with 51000 miles . Any advice would be great.

1) What "mod" did you do to your nav screen.
2) When you say "everything stopped working" - be more specific... just the display on the iDrive, the entire car, some functions...
3) You say your electrics were fine. What electrics ... what exactly has been changed/added?
4) "Kept replacing fuses". Which fuses blew? Was it the same fuse several times, or lots of different ones?
5) You replaced a fuse today and noticed smoke coming from the spare tire... again, which fuse?
6) Two inches of water in the trunk ... could this have been the cause of ALL the problems?
Anyway, I would say you need to;
Dry the car out fully.
Buy a new MPM (I don't know what this is, but on fire with a hole in means you need a new one).
"Un Mod" your idrive.
Replace any blown fuses.
Your car should now be back to it's original state. Power it up and hope everything is fine. If it is, you can re-mod your idrive. If any fuses go, then your electrics ARENT fine!
Again, if you tell us in more detail what you are actually doing, we'll be able to give a lot more advice...

I googled MPM and found an ad for a 530 with this:
This 530i was re-acquired from its original owner by BMW due to a complaint that the audio system cut out. BMW replaced the micro power module (MPM) and updated the vehicle software under factory warranty and placed the car back in service. BMW has corrected the non-conformity and we have all paperwork from BMW to confirm the car meets all quality standards. CA law requires that a CA title be noted with a buyback. This process does not affect the factory warranty in any way and the car currently has a clear Arizona title and the full balance of BMW factory warranty and maintenance programs apply.)

Ja, that was very very funny (but then again, so was my ,,after the smoke clears`` line and no one seems to have gotten it )
