Maybe I missed it, but is there any way to have you current MPH displayed in digital format on the dash? It will display the average MPH, but not the current actual. It's difficult to tell how fast you're going by glancing at the odometer since it goes in increments of 20 -- I need to think about it for a second when glancing at it.

When Porsche started using a digital readout for speed in addition to the analog speedo, many purists were upset. In the 997S the spacing of the speed markings on the analog speedo are so close as to be useless. I got very used to the digital readout on the 997S, which was larger and clearer than that on the 996. When I got my 550i, I missed having this digital readout. I still find myself looking for it. On the other hand I very much like the BMW cruise control setup with the set speed mark and the initial readout of cruise speed set.

You can display a tiny digital kph speedo via the hidden idrive menu--see post 28 here.
