My dealer has passed me a bit of info to post on the site which he thought we might be interested in. Apparently they have discovered that a large number of UK cars are being delivered from the factory with the On Board Computer set to record MPG in US gallons which will make your average MPG look far worse than it actually is. I believe you can reset this to UK gallons in the i-drive main menu. Worth checking out on your cars.

Yep...my car was delivered like this and I only noticed by accident whilst skipping thru the i-drive screens.

If you push down on the controller to go into the main menu I think it is under vehicle settings from memory.

Here in the US they delivered mine set to Imperial gallons. I was very surprised to see my 545 getting the same mileage - 20mpg - as my modified (thirsty) 2002 GTI 1.8T
After a software upgrade so some issue I noticed my mileage had dropped a lot and complained. Even the dealer didn't notice the switch or suggest it. Noticed it myself after reading a post here a while back
