The manual says that the MPG display keeps an average since the last time it was reset and capturing all the time the engine is running, so...
If you are, say, crusing at a steady speed on the interstate and want to know what your instantaneous MPG is, I would guess you could just hit the reset button... My question is: How long does it take for the reading to be accurate? A couple of miles? A couple of minutes? Anyone else ever wonder about trivial stuff like this?
Cheers, Jon.

It's accurate right away.
My car uses 1-2 litres more by the 100 km that the computer shows.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that I'm sitting in traffic jams every day
in the city traffic?

My car has an instantaneous MPG readout. I thought that they all did.
Me and a friend were out in his new 2006 Z06 - after testing it in "high-performance mode" we were interested to see if it could really get 26MPG. Sure enough, in 5th gear at about 75MPH, the instantaneous MPG display told us it was getting the MPG advertised by Chevrolet. So then I thought I'd try to figure out how to get a similar display on my car...
Jon.
