First of all thank you to cobradav for very important and updated info:

After my update to CIP 20.0 on 28dec05 I didn't obtain any MP3 reading capabilities.
This morning I came back and I obtained a further update: all is working fine with MP3 both using CD central consolle both with DVD .
No MP3 capability on 6 CD charger, as known.
All this great result on a 535d E60 with Nav Pro of Dec 04 (sept/04 build)

Hi,
I am happy to say that my car was successfully updated today. It plays mp3 perfectly!
I have pro nav and it is a march 04 build!
Nothing (besides the actual software update...) had to be done with the CCC. I think the tech said it was version 20.0.02 but i will check that and get back to you.

I have september 2004 (date of purchase).
I have already chechk at my dealer for a service and cip update on 26 ad 27 of january. I will let you know if mp3 is working

Hi everyone,
Also from Holland positive sounds about MP3 capability.
My june 04 built E61 with pronav has a working MP3 player as of yesterday.
The dealer already upgraded the car to CIP 20 last week but without a running MP3 player.
He told me he had to order extra software for the MP3 player, which he did and uploaded yesterday.
So it definitely works!!!

Hi again,
Not only does the cd play Mp3?s. I also successfully burned a DVD with 4,3 G music and played it in the DVD reader...... I used DVD+R and +RW. Both worked but i was not able to use DVD-R, the player did not recognize it.
Start burning folks....

my mp3 always worked since July 2005 and I do not have yet any CIP 20s nor updates... but Professional Radio-(that comes w your Nav Pro). I guess mine is like 19 sg, but will ask im March when I give them my car t check out some stuff. Good luck and happy Mp3.
