Hey guys,
is it a common problem for E60s to have somewhat of a slow/lagging issue with CD player playing MP3 files? For mine, the whole iDrive lags sometime and while playing mp3s, I choose random ALL and it wouldn't have any response until I do it the 2nd time.
can anyone shine some light on this issue?

nope, still kind of laggy.
It's like every time a song starts playing, random all won't work. I gotta wait till the song play at least 10 secs before random all would work again.
I thought it's inconvenient when it is on random all, I press next track on my steering wheel it will go to the next song instead of randoming a song and that cancels the random all.
=(

I dont use cd's so I am not sure, but I know with other cars and drives it depends on the brand of the cd's you are using as well as the format in which you are burning them.
And regarding the steering wheel next song function, check your idrive for that - there may be a setting for that particular button that goes to the next song rather than the randomized selection...???? You will find that there are sooo many functions buried within the idrive - it may take time to find them all.
