I updated my E60 today to version 17.0, and the mp3 can be played into the in-dash cd player. Here is the proof :

so does that mean v17 will make non nav business radio play mp3's? And even though Ice explained it I still don't know the difference between business radio and pro . But I think I have business (stand. radio) radio and my RDS works.

This whole MP3 deal feels like a rollercoaster. Now that I was totally dissapointed about not having MP3 playing capability ever, it seems like there might be some light at the end of the tunnel again.
What radio does business nav has??

It looks like you have bus radio and therefore will not get MP3 playback.

It looks like you may not have Nav, but just want to reconfirm if that is correct. Also, could you please tell us what your car's build date is -- is it pre-week 9 production (that would be pre-March 2005)? If that is the case then that is really good news for most of us.

Are the MP3 discs created by merely burning MP3 files to a data CD? I picked up my car Tuesday and cannot playback CDs with MP3 files even with Sirius.

Hi,

I just tried an MP3 disk in my new '06 530i and it worked just fine, including displaying the artist and track name. I have just the regular in-dash CD and standard radio (AM/FM/W without Navigation. My car was built around the 1st week of during the 1st week of April, so say week 14 or so. I don't know what version of the firmware it has - it was at the VPC from about May 21-25, so if that is where final configuration takes place I guess it could have gotten v17.0 (at the least is was probably v16.2)...

Cheers, Jon.
