I have read several posts on this topic and now I can not find them through a search and I never got a clear answer reading the posts. Can my 06 530xi - still in production - with NO NAV - play mp3 files burned on a CD?
If anyone answers please start with yes or no.
You guys (and gals) are great - Thaksin advance for the help

Yes.

Long answer: vehicles WITHOUT Nav and WITH Pro Radio can play MP3 CDs.

Vehicles WITH Nav can allegedly play MP3 CDs as of October 2005 production, but we cannot confirm that yet, though we have some some reports of CCC vehicles (E90s with nav) being able to play MP3 CDs.

You're fine. US cars starting in the 2006 model year have radio pro. It has two tuners, an "All Stations" view, weather band, etc...

OK - last question about this - so do I put the mp3 files on CD-R, CD-RW, etc - or does it not matter.
P.S. - how about .wmv files?
SO this is two more questions - just shoot me

It does not matter which media you use CD-R, CD-RW.
Personally, I like to use CD-RW, I like to update my
collect all the time.

I think you mean the WMA (Windows Media Audio) file,
nope, you can not play it. You must convert it into a
CD or MP3 file.

There are some good WMA to MP3 converters out there

Just a quick question... Is there a specific way to arrange the MP3 files on the CD? I couldn't get mine to work...

So far, of the 5 650s I know have been delivered they are all able to play MP3s in the single slot only. The 650 comes with NAV and pro radio as standard. The earliest build week of these 5 6ers is week 36. I do not know if they have a new CCC or not. Suspect we will have to wait and see what the parts list shows when updated or if someone has to have one replaced before we really know.

Yes, it's always been known that they'd only play them in the single slot. The big deal is cars with Pro Nav/CCC playing MP3 CDs *at all*, so this is good news.

In my research on this, there are two conflicting statements: one is that all Pro Nav cars will be able to play MP3 CDs in the single slot as of October Week 40 production (this was from a July document), but two different representatives at BMWNA Customer Relations specifically say that cars WITH navigation can play MP3 CDs as of September Week 36 production. I know some people have Week 36 cars here, but I don't know if any of those people are the group who even care about MP3 CDs. I'll have my Week 40 car next week or early the week after, and others here will too, so I imagine we'll find out soon enough once and for all.

Well after getting all of the info from the wonderful people here on the forum I figured out how to make mp3's and made cd with 150 songs each - and I used Nero which says it has a program to put 300 mp3 songs on a cd
But before I buy it I'm going to wait for my e60 - it is still in production - just to be sure they work - but if they do them my cd's are ready
In the mean time I'm making copies of cd's for my wife becasue she does not know how to care for a cd - just tosses them in the car and they get all scratched - I'm currently buting John Denver - I hope my computer agrees to do it
