Hi all
Been following things on the sight since I got my 530xit this past Feb, but have not posted much! This coming summer I (and the car) are moving to Budapest, so I wonder if there are any members from there who can offer comments on garages to use and avoid, or any other info that is useful. I am taking Hungarian language training, so hopefully I will be competent enough to politely massacre the language while trying to get my point across

Cheers

George

Good luck with the language. What takes you there? Be aware as BMW's are stolen very frequently in Hungary. You may enjoy the food but be smart to rent a garage for security reasons.

Yes, the language is a challenge! I will be working with the Hungarian Military as an exchange officer. "Nice" to know that the BMW is so popular... Not sure if we are going to rent a house in Buda or an apt in Pest. I understand that the transit system is very good, so I will be taking that to work daily, and I will ensure that I have a secure garage.

Cheers

My sister just returned from 4 years in Budapest. She had extensive laguage training before leaving and still found it VERY difficult to converse(even though she speaks 4 other languages),Magyar is very tough.Good luck!As previous poster said, theft is a problem-she had her bicycle stolen for her garage, but they left her Smart car
All that being said she loved Budapest and the country-you are lucky to be going!
Be sure to visit Pecs, in the south end of the country-it is very nice.

Oh, I am fluent in Hungarian. (Have issues with English though. :-)))) ) I agree Pecs is a beautiful city. Went to high school there. By the way people drive like a maniac overthere including my brother. Enjoy your stay there as Hungary still very affordable compare to the western countries. They also say "szia" (see ya) when they greet somebody!
